Recently, I had the privilege of speaking on a panel where we delved into the intersection of business and spirituality. A question that came up was, “How do you find your purpose?” This is particularly challenging for those who have walked many paths without a clear sense of direction.
How do you find your purpose? It’s a profound question that many of us grapple with. I believe that the journey to finding your purpose is unique to each individual and unfolds when you are in alignment with your deepest self. This alignment, or coherence, occurs when there’s harmony between your actions, thoughts, and feelings. Achieving this state means that your purpose finds you, rather than you searching aimlessly for it.
To reach alignment, one must embark on a significant journey of self-discovery.
What do I need for self-discovery? You need to engage in both learning who you truly are and unlearning the conditioned beliefs that cloud your true essence. This deep introspection helps clarify your values, illuminate your passions, and uncover your innate gifts.
When you understand your values and actively engage with your passions, you naturally gravitate towards your purpose. This was a key realization for me during a tumultuous phase of life. By acknowledging and understanding the inner signals of anxiety and depression—my body’s messengers—I was able to address the underlying misalignments within myself.
It was through this comprehensive self-understanding, even during my darkest times, that my purpose came and found me.
